The Conversation Tree · Daily Bible study, in conversation
About
Where it started
Sheldon Peart lives in Jamaica. For over five years he has written a daily conversation on the week's Sabbath School lesson. It is a dialogue, worked through the way it comes up when people talk about it together.
It started as a message to his Sabbath School class, shared in a WhatsApp group. The group grew to 75+ people. It became a broadcast list. The broadcast list became a WhatsApp Channel. The channel became a podcast. This site is the next step: the same daily conversation, given a permanent home.
Every post is built on the week's official Seventh-day Adventist Sabbath School quarterly. That is the source material. The site's name carries no denomination because the conversation is open to anyone working through the same questions.
About Sheldon
Sheldon retired from public service in 2007 and has written twelve books since. He is married, with four children, three grandchildren and a grand-dog. He plays the guitar.
The Conversation Tree is written and maintained by Sheldon and Richard Peart.
How it works
Each day has one conversation. The speakers are usually a Teacher and an Inquirer. A Former Member or a New Believer joins some days.
Every conversation ends with one small step. It might be a question to think about, a choice to make, a sentence to finish or a commitment to make. What you enter stays in your own browser. It is never sent to us or stored on a server, so it won't follow you to another device.
Posts follow the Sabbath School quarterly, so each one shows its quarter, week and week theme. Sabbath posts sometimes open with a short preamble called Before the Tree.
Use the previous and next links to move a day at a time. The This week page puts the current week's conversations in one place. Past lessons lists everything by quarter and week. Topics and Search help you find something specific. When a post has a podcast episode, it links to it.
